April means Record Store Day and this year it’s Saturday, April 22. Our friends at Slow Boat Records always put on a terrific day with instores and the very best of the Limited Edition Record Store Day-only vinyl reissues and special releases.
In previous years they’ve hosted Neil Finn, Tami Neilson, Dave Dobbyn, Anika Moa, and others. They’ve opened up the store to the community – as all good record stores do on this day made for celebrating the idea of the Record Store, made for celebrating the music and celebrating with music.
The store will open at 9am, with a great selection of vinyl including titles from the list of special releases.
At 2pm French For Rabbits will perform material from their two albums to date and will stick around to sign copies of their albums.
At 3pm TEETH will perform in celebration of their self-titled debut album. The band features The Phoenix Foundation’s Luke Buda and Tom Callwood with Ant Donaldson on drums and David Long (ex Mutton Birds) on lead and harmony guitars. Bloody good band!
The TEETH instore doubles as the album-launch, the CD available on the day through the Slow Boat Records label. So again, stick around and get the album signed.
As always Slow Boat will run a raffle and offer some spot prizes. And then the store will close at 5pm.
It’s gonna be a great day.
