Funny ole thing this Internet, init? So I’m doing a David Bowie DJ set tomorrow night. And someone sends me – in the mail – a CD bootleg of the Wellington gig, 2004. A great set that. Now I can’t be too bothered with obsessing over hearing audio of shows I was at – I prefer to hang on to the memory of a gig as much as anything. But when these two blank CDs arrived in the post I go straight to the internet to remind myself of the exact setlist from that gig. And then it’s to Spotify to build that very setlist. A good Bowie playlist I reckon. Not just the official tour CD but a specific playlist to match that Wellington show. It poured with rain all day and Bowie, total trouper, put on his raincoat and delivered a knockout show. For that level of commitment alone – so many others would have called off the gig – this was one of my favourite ever live shows. Also, it was nice to not review it. To just head along as a fan.
So if you haven’t ever done this (already) and you want to relive what he played that night click here.
Oh and I’m grateful to have heard the boots from that show, sure. If nothing else it sent me to the net to make up this playlist. Something I hadn’t considered previously.
